Enabled under the Broadway Plan, Kits West will replace an existing, aging 35-unit apartment building with a 100% purpose built 20-storey rental tower featuring 182 units, of which 35 will be below market rental units. The Project aims to contribute to the neighbourhood character and culture of Kitsilano, while providing much needed secured rental housing in close proximity to rapid transit and cycling networks.
Kits West is located at 2175 W7th Avenue in the vibrant Kitsilano community and is minutes away from future Arbutus Skytrain station, West 4th avenue, the revitalized Broadway corridor, and the Arbutus Greenway. The Projects proximity to the new Broadway Subway station will allow for convenient access to public transportation, promoting sustainable urban living and reducing reliance on vehicles. Connection to the Arbutus Greenway and the active lifestyle of Kitsilano will also be encouraged through the building’s amenities, including a bike hub at grade with access to bike storage rooms, maintenance and washing stations, and a social lounge. The rooftop level will be fully focused on amenities for residents, with both indoor and outdoor spaces capitalizing on the best views the building has to offer.
The building’s entry lobby is located along West 7th Ave, inset to allow for landscaping and seating along the frontage. Townhomes are located at grade along West 7th Ave and the east side, with generous patios and landscaping in the setback. The townhomes and 5 storey podium scale are meant to transition from the existing low-rise buildings, while the tower form is based on the existing older 1970s high rise buildings nearby.
